"Drawing on black paper is essentially working in reverse. With a sketch that’s on white (or light-colored) paper, you’re typically starting with light shading and working towards deep shadows. The opposite is true when working on black paper; a dark ground is already there, so you’ve got to transition from pitch black to medium grey to bright white marks."

​

By practicing this technique, you are essentially "drawing with light itself" since you are starting with darkness.  This will help you understand how light interacts with objects and how you can manipulate shape and value with light (white pencil).

​

 

Requirements of the Project:


- You must choose artwork from a museum site.

- You must have at least 5 values

- Artwork must be cited correctly

- Artwork is displayed on the wall

- You will use different techniques of visual arts and principles of design to plan and create a piece of art.

(VA: Pr 5.1.1)  "Analyze and evaluate the reasons and ways an exhibition is presented."

What does this mean?

- You will demonstrate creative presentation processes, with particular attention to displaying your artwork with purpose for the audience.
