This project challenges students to research, analyze, plan, prepare, and complete a wearable mask using a variety of techniques and mediums.  Below you will find the requirements of the project, the Visual State Standards, student examples, and the rubric.

​

 

Requirements of the Project:

​​

  • Mask can be worn

  • Is mixed-media (more than 3 materials used)

  • Has 3D elements in at least 3 

  • Has balance-  Symmetrical or asymmetrical

  • Concept:  Personal or Cultural

Visual Art Standards implied and assessed throughout this project:

​

Anchor Standard 1 CREATING

(VA: Cr 1.2.1) "Shape an artistic investigation of an aspect of present-day life using a contemporary practice of art or design."

​

What does this mean?

- You will use different techniques of visual arts and principles of design to plan and create a piece of art.

​

Anchor Standard 5 PRESENTING

(VA: Pr 5.1.1)  "Analyze and evaluate the reasons and ways an exhibition is presented."

​

What does this mean?

- You will demonstrate creative presentation processes, with particular attention to displaying your artwork with purpose for the audience.

​

Anchor Standard 10 CONNECTING

(VA: Cn 10.1.1)  "Document the process of developing ideas from early stages to fully elaborated ideas"

​

What does this mean?

- You will maintain an organized folder of ideas and processes used throughout your art project.  This would include items such as initial inspiration and ideas, deliberate planning choices, design plans, etc.

​
