This project challenges students to research, analyze, plan, prepare, and complete a sculpture using paper mache.  Below you will find the requirements of the project, the Visual State Standards, student examples, and the rubric.

​

View-able from all angles

-  Accurate Form and Color

-  Inclusion of Fine Details

-  Solid and not squishy

-  Stands on its own

Visual Art Standards implied and assessed throughout this project:

​

Anchor Standard 1 CREATING

(VA: Cr 1.2.1) "Shape an artistic investigation of an aspect of present-day life using a contemporary practice of art or design."

​

What does this mean?

- You will use different techniques of visual arts and principles of design to plan and create a piece of art.

​

Anchor Standard 2 CREATING

(VA: Pr 2.1.1)  "Engage in making a work of art or design without having a preconceived plan."

​

What does this mean?

- You will demonstrate creative processes, with particular attention to selecting and combining ideas to create visual artworks intuitively.

​

Anchor Standard 6 PRESENTING

(VA: Pr 6.1.1)  "Convey meaning through the presentation of artistic work."

​

What does this mean?

- You will analyze your inspirational artwork, and your own, for its impact on personal awareness of social, cultural, or political beliefs and understandings.

​

Anchor Standard 10 CONNECTING

(VA: Cn 10.1.1)  "Document the process of developing ideas from early stages to fully elaborated ideas"

​

What does this mean?

- You will maintain an organized folder of ideas and processes used throughout your art project.  This would include items such as initial inspiration and ideas, deliberate planning choices, design plans, etc.

​
